Every other year, we hold Helm Conference in our hometown of Victoria, BC. Known as a top destination spot in Canada, Victoria offers a delightful blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy that will uniquely elevate Helm Conference. While we’re hard at work developing the content that will make the conference invaluable, today we’re taking a closer look at why we’re so excited to welcome you to our home!

Sublime Surroundings

At the southern tip of Vancouver Island, Victoria perfectly blends nature with history and urban life. You’ll wander around cobblestone streets through the stunning architecture of the historic Inner Harbour with the grandeur of the British Columbia Parliament Buildings close by. Look around and you’ll notice lush greenery all around around the city, with views of the Pacific Ocean everywhere. You’ll even see the Olympic Mountains in the background, but don’t forget to look closely at the water, where you might spot otters, seals, and (if you’re very fortunate) even orcas or humpback whales!

Culture and Cuisine

Victoria is a culinary haven where every meal is a journey of flavors. Renowned for its farm-to-table ethos, the city’s vibrant food scene showcases the freshest local ingredients, from succulent seafood to organic produce. Visit the Royal BC Museum to delve into the region’s Indigenous heritage and natural history, or explore contemporary art at local galleries, all steps away from where Helm Conference takes place.

Stay and Play

No visit to Victoria is complete without a trip to the world famous Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site of Canada that offers 55 acres of stunning gardens and over 900 varieties of plants. Whale watching is also extremely popular, as the abundant sea life makes for plenty of special moments. You can join a tour right across the street from the Empress hotel!

For the more active attendees, the region is packed with scenic trails for biking and hiking. If you’d like to stick to the water, you can also kayak along the coastline. You can even take a hot tub boat out on the water if you’re simply looking to relax (yes, a hot tub boat!)
